Art Book Club for Artists & Writers
I love to read. There’s so much knowledge to absorb.
I thought it would be fun to go through a new book every couple months as a group for whoever is interested in joining me. I have set up a Facebook group solely for book club, so we can share our thoughts while going through each book.
If you would like to join us, below are the details.
Thank you to everyone for your recommendations. From your feedback I have assembled a great list that will keep us reading for a while!
Book For September: “The Judgement Of Paris” by Ross King - Learn More or Get The Book
Start Date: September 9, 2013.
Please Note: If you are still reading the previous book, discussions may continue and are welcome at any time. To participate and for further details please review the information below under “Book Club Participation & FAQ’s”.
More About The Book for September
Book description from the book jacket:
“While the Civil War raged in America, another revolution took shape across the Atlantic, in the studios of Paris: The artists who would make Impressionism the most popular art form in history were showing their first paintings amidst scorn and derision from the French artistic establishment. Indeed, no artistic movement has ever been quite so controversial. The drama of its birth, played out on canvas and against the backdrop of the Franco-Prussian War and the Commune, would at times resemble a battlefield; and as Ross King reveals, it would reorder both history and culture, and resonate around the world.”
Book Club Participation & FAQ’s
Facebook has set up a handy platform for groups to interact and have discussions, so we use their service to discuss each book and I also send some updates by email to you directly.
To join our the Facebook ‘Book Club’ Group to participate in discussions:
Please go to the Group page here and then click on the “Join Group” button directly underneath the photo of The Art Spirit book near the top right of the page. I will then be notified of your request to join and will add you to the group.
To participate once you have joined:
When you log into your Facebook account and you are looking at your personal news feed, on the left hand side should be a list of items. There will be a heading that says “Groups” with this book club group listed underneath. If you click on this group then you will be able to see all the discussions within the group and add to it. Groups are separate from your regular Facebook account so you need to click into the group to participate and view the discussions.
Please add your thoughts, comments and questions to spark conversations or join in on other discussions posted by members.
To select whether you receive all comments by email or not:
Follow these steps to view and change your settings:
1 – When logged into Facebook, click on the dial at the top right corner and choose “Account Settings”
2 – Click on the “Notifications” link in the left column
